Amendment of the Olivos Protocol on dispute resolutions in the Mercosur

On September 12, 2008, it was published in the Official Gazette Law 26.405 that approves the Amendment to the Olivos Protocol for the Dispute Resolution in the Mercosur, executed on January 19, 2007.

The aim of this amendment is to modify the Olivos Protocol regime for dispute resolutions in the event new members joint Mercosur.

Consequently, the tasks related to dispute resolution in charge of the Administrative Secretariat of Mercosur were transferred to the Permanent Revision Court Secretariat, establishing the rules for its integration and duties.

The Protocol will become effective 30 days after the deposit of the fourth ratification instrument; and will apply to the proceedings initiated as a result of applications submitted since it becomes effective.
