Santiago J. Sturla

Mr. Sturla joined Allende & Brea in 1993 while still a law student. He received his law degree from the “Universidad Católica Argentina” in 1997 and became an associate attorney of the firm.

In 2002 he received an LL.M. from Duke University Law School, with a focus on corporate law and finance. In 2002/2003 he worked as an International Attorney with the Global Corporate Finance Department at the New York law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. In 2003/2004 he worked in Washington, D.C. as a legal consultant to the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), an agency of the World Bank Group specialized in political risk insurance.

Mr. Sturla has represented clients in a broad range of matters within his field of specialization, including mergers and acquisitions, shareholders’ conflicts and derivative actions, financing and restructuring, project financing, foreign investment, political risk insurance and licensing and franchising, giving advice to banks, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies and high-tech companies, among others.

He serves on the boards of directors and as statutory auditor of various companies and has lectured at several conferences, both in Argentina and in the U.S.

Mr. Sturla was named partner of the firm in 2005 and is a member of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires.

He has been cited as a leading practitioner in Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions law by, among others, Chambers & Partners Global; Chambers Latin America; The Legal 500 Latin America; International Financial Law Review (IFLR1000) and Latin Lawyer 250.
